I bought a 2013 R29S with a Cummins/Onan generator last September and already 2 dipsticks have broken - both by mechanics - while checking the oil. The installation is such that you have to really bend the dipstick when checking the oil. Not sure yet how I'm going to deal with the several inches-long pieces that broke off in the dipstick tube, but the purpose of this post is to ask if this is a common problem and how others deal with it.

I have the same generator, the dipstick is a slender spring wire. When inserting back in you just need to be careful, it has a few bends to clear. When you encounter resistance just take your time and probe while spinning the stick and it should work its way past the bend. Don't force it.

Thanks - I'll bear that in mind.
