Genset Not Secured

One of my off season jobs was to replace the exhaust hoses on my Genset as they were severly cracked. (3 years old). As I was trying to install the new hoses to my surprise the whole unit moved. Upon further investigation I learned that the unit was not secured to the decking in the compartment. This actually worked in my favor getting the larger exhaust hose installed as I could line it up and push the whole unit back until the hose was in place. I then secured the Genset to the decking in the compartment.
The only thing holding the Genset down was the exhaust hose connections.
If you have one check it out and make sure it's secure.

Hi Brian,

I visited the marina today to make sure that Little Debbie had been hauled and blocked for the winter. The Mase genset has 4 screws keeping it in place. These are on each end of two rails, there are rubber mounts on the rails that attach to the genset frame. I am surprised that you had to replace the exhaust hoses, mine look like new after three seasons although it has less than 100 hours use. Was your genset installed by the factory?

On mine the rubber mounts are attached to a 3/4" piece of plywood, it is that wood base that was not attached to the compartment deck. The previous owner ordered it as an option so I assume the factory did the installation. I have 48 hours on the Genset. I would estimate the multiple cracks were about 1/2 way through the hoses which were wire reinforced. I replaced them with water/exhaust wire reinforced hose from WM.
