So my boat positioning on my chart plotter was off today. Is there a setting/calibration I should check. Had been working fine.

Thanks

Every time I have had any glitch with the GPS, I shut off house the battery switch for 10-15 seconds when it comes up, it has always been cured.

I have only had an issue a couple times in 2 years.

I would suggest you start there.

I hope that helps.

When you say positioning do you mean the heading versus you compass or how the boat is pointing on the screen? If so, have you put anything metallic near the course compass unit (black Ball) also known as the CCU? Also check to make sure that the plastic holder has not broken and it is not loose. If it is the metallic issue you just have to move the items. With the other issues, after the fix you will most likely have to go through the setup wizard.

On an older Garmin the GPS seemed to be off, but came around to being normal after I relocated manually the proper boat location; but progressed to being more errant, then finally stopped. Turned out that the contacts on the Radar mast unit had creeping corrosion. The GPS was fine, but Garmin no longer supported that dome arrangement, hence a new dome. So check all connections and use the silicon grease, although it might be too late. And carry a spare handheld GPS or Navionics on an iPad.
