While many of you are planning to attend the Ranger Tug Cruise to Roche Harbor and on to Desolation Sound, Maureen and I will not be attending this event. Instead, we will be heading to the Gulf Islands on the 26th of August.

Our planned itinerary is:
Depart Anacortes at 6:00 am on Friday August 26th. Stop in at Poets Cove to clear customs and a massage for Maureen. Friday afternoon cruise to Salt Springs Island where we will overnight.
After attending the Farmers Market in Salt Springs on Saturday morning, we will head off to Montague Harbor
Sunday will find us in Pirates Cove
Monday, Silva Bay
Tuesday, Thetus Island
Wednesday, Chemainus
Thursday, Maple Bay
Friday, Victoria
Saturday, Victoria
Sunday, Friday Harbor
Monday, Bremerton where we will remain through the Rendezvous.

Anyone wishing to join us is welcome. You can also follow our adventure on our "Spot" link at:

We will definitely get together with you on Friday Aug 26th when you are in Ganges. Wouldn't it be fun to convoy back to Bremerton with you and some of the other Canadian tugnuts!!! Checking my schedule as we speak. Maybe we can take the week before off and hurry home instead of the other way around!!

Cheers

Gail

Gail,
Sounds great.

In the event that you are planning to join us on this cruise, make your reservations in Victoria right away. The holiday weekend is the weekend of the Classic Boat Festival in Victoria. The Causeway Floats in front of the Empress are booked full so we will be on the Wharf Street Floats. Closer to downtown.

You can reach the Victoria Harbor Master at 250-383-8326. Victoria has a rafting policy which says you may have to raft. When you make reservations you may request to raft (if called upon to do so) to someone you know.

This should prove to be a great week to be in the Gulf Islands as a good portion of the US Flagged Boats will have already returned home to get the kids back in school.

David & Maureen:
I see by your post that you will be visiting us in Victoria again -- this time over the Labour Day weekend. You will not get moorage at the docks in front of the Empress Hotel -- they are fully taken over by the Classic Boat Festival. This also includes the "Ships Point" docks which are a couple of hundred yards just to the north of the Empress docks.

There are a couple of other places you can dock at, and you can call:
Victoria Harbour Authority 250-383-8326 Ext 243 for Thora Brooks; or
Coast Hotel, 1-800-716-6199.

VHA has docks at the "Foot Of Fort Street" which are those immediately to port of the Customs Dock and Fishermans Wharf -- you pass them on your starboard side out by the yellow channel markers.

Coast Hotel has moorage just past Fishermans Wharf.

Both are on a walkway to the Empress Hotel -- perhaps 10 minutes.

The Classic Boat Festival books the Empress Docks from Thursday August 29 until Monday Sep 5th. Space should free up on Monday (Labour Day) as boats are departing for home. We raft boats up from one finger to the other -- as many as 4 or 5 together -- so no chance of a vacant spot. I run the sailboat race on Sunday....without Lobo (they don't consider R25's as "classic"!).

There is an inter-yacht-club "Labour Day Cruise" to Thetis Island the same weekend (Sep 2-5). The yacht clubs will be at Telegraph Harbour Marina. Nine yacht clubs participate in this event. I've not been there so I have no idea if there is any non-YC moorage available. There is another marina in Thetis Harbour -- the name not in my head as I type this. Check Waggoners.

"LOBO"

Dave,
We were ablt to book Moorage at the Wharf Street Floats north of the customs dock.

I have read numerous articles on the Classic Boat Show and it sounds like a neat event. This is the reason we finished in Victoria on Labor Day Weekend. Just so we could see the boats.

Hopefully you and Lynn will be able to join us on Karma for a glass of wine while we are there.

David
