As introduced in another thread my mail is handled by St. Brendan’s Isle in Green Cove Springs Fl. The link is https://www.sbimailservice.com, fees are rather reasonable. $8.00 per month plus shipping. They scan the envelope of each item every day, so we can usually see what comes in and what we may want opened immediately. The Shipping usually costs us around another $8.00 and we do that every 2 weeks or so. Scanning contents, if you want a piece opened and scanned, is .50 to open it and .10 per page up to 5 pages, after 5 pages there is no charge. If you contact them they can fill you in with all the details. We have found them to be extremely helpful with the setup and change of address requirements. As far as leaving your home vacant while gone….. we solved that by selling the house and buying a condo! Before buying the condo we would pay a neighbor’s responsible teenager to check the house regularly and had a landscape service do the lawn and plow the driveway. I would turn off the water in the event of a loss of heat in the winter. We never had a problem.

Thanks for starting a new thread for this. 🙂

When you say they scan the envelope... how do you receive the scanned image ? Is the scanned imaged Emailed to you ? Or do they post the images on their web site under your account ? How do you communicate with them to give them your instructions...

Sounds like the service runs at around $30-$40 per month all told.

Maybe I should stop here and go to their web site to get answers... 😉

We haven't yet got to the moment for selling the house and moving to a condo yet... not ready for that right now, but I'm sure at a future time we will contemplate such a move.

How about handling medical emergencies while away from home ? ...maybe another thread is needed.

If mail came in on any given day they send an e-mail telling you have mail. You go to there site and sign on into your private account and an image of each piece of mail can be seen and then you have choices of what you want done with it. If you go to their website they have a complete demo.
To answer your question regarding a medical emergency while traveling, I would say call an ambulance
