Hatch/Vent Covers

When I store my boat on its trailer during the week, I was wondering if Ranger Tugs make covers for the three Hatch/Vents that are located on my R-21 EC? The Hatch/Vents I'm refering to are the two in the pilot house and the one over the berth. Since my trailered boat is stored outdoors and in the open, I want to cut down the amount of sunlight that comes into the boat.

Does Ranger Tugs have any covers, or do I need to have them fabricated?

I cut some Sunbrella fabric and use the screens to hold it in place between the screen and the hatch.

Somewhere in the archives is a message for a source of internal sun and light blocks. I have a set for my R21EC. They work great.

According to my email files I corresponded with this address about the screens: brendap@cpdfl.com .

I like them much better than an external fabric cover. They fit just like the screen supplied by Ranger.

I fabricated the hatch covers for Just Dreamin' out of air duct insulation, the type sold at Home Depot, Lowe's etc. made from aluminum foil covered bubble wrap. I cut the insulation to exact dimension of insert screen, and finished edges with cloth duct tape to eliminate any fraying. The square fits nicely between the hatch and screen, and is easy to remove when needed and it tends to reflect heat back.

Good Morning!

Diamond Sea Glaze makes a set of "black out" Covers...The factory was able to order them for me years ago. Not the most inexpensive option, but they fit for sure and work like a champ.

Someone mentioned screens. The hatches come with screens? Did my dealer "forget" to give me mine???? I have the R21-EC 2007 Model. Please let me know if I need to file a complaint about this.

My 07 R21-EC came with screens for the two hatches over the pilot station and I always wondered if there was supposed to be one for the hatch over the V-berth. It will be interesting to see what the answer is.

Funny you should mention that. My 2010 R21-EC did not come with any screens. I was looking for some screens and saw how expensive they were. I happened to look at the equipment list on the website for the R21 and noticed it stated "Hatches (2), pilothouse roof, opening with screens" for the overhead hatches, and "Forward deck hatch, opening, translucent" for the hatch above the v-berth. I contacted my dealer about it and he contacted the factory, and I was shipped three screens within a couple of weeks - just got them. Great service. I cannot say what did or did not come with the 2007 model. You are probably outside the grace period by now. Try contacting your dealer or the factory. The worst they can say is no.
