Remembering all the souls lost as well as those still standing in defending/maintaining peace and oppression. My hat is off to them as well.

Personally, I lost my father 3 months before I was born -- crushed by a German tank during WWII.

Gill, I'm not a regular blogger type. I recently bought a boat and just became part of this forum, but I did notice your post with personal interest. I want to say that I am grateful for your father's selflessness of service to those of us he never would know. Not to mention, our prodigy. I cannot properly convey here, my deepest appreciation, for the magnitude of you father's sacrifice. Your father's actions were honorable and his memory, precious. You friend, have a Hero for a Dad. I too served but never left the safety of our boarders and , certainly, not to the extent of your father and many other brave heros who gave it all to protect us and keep us free. My love is unrelenting to all our many heros. God bless them all.

Thank you, Bruce and Vickie, on behalf of myself (USAF 1968-72) and my sons (USA 1990 to present and 1995 to present). I also stand next to you with hat in hand as I think of the men and women who have stood between our nation and our nation's enemies.

A toast to all the Veteran's that are out there. Whether it is a veteran of yester-year or a current one, our selfless service to this country we love so much makes this holiday a very special one.

A special note to my son, Petty Officer Second Class, Yeoman Garcia, be safe while you are out at sea in your submarine and come home to your wife and daughter safely...God Bless You.
