Hi Everyone,
I have not tackled toilette maint yet, but now have too.... When I press the flush button the 25amp fuse instantly blows. I assume the toilette motor is stuck/seized. A couple of questions, are there 2 motors one being the macerator for pump out and one that does the vacuum suck down? assuming the motor that does the suck down is not the macerator pump out, where is it located? directly under the toilette? curious how to access it?

thanks

What manufacture and model head is installed?

Hi, looks like my toilet manufacture is Techma Thetford. I see that the electric motor is in the base of the porcelain toilet. My upcoming yucky job will be to pull it out to see of there is a short, or just a stuck blade, or it might need replaced?

Hello,

The toilet houses the macerator and the pump for the toilet would be in the forward part of the strbd hatch, we also install a separate macerator for overboard pump out. Most likely there is something jamming the impeller for the pump/macerator which would cause the toilet fuse to blow. Best thing to do is to remove the whole toilet from the boat and work on it in an area that isn't so confined. I had to do this the other year at a rendezvous and was much easier working on it out of the boat. Hope this helps.

Thank you,
Kevin Lamont

Hopefully parts are easier to get for your Tecma.
My Jabsco Lite did something similar. Turned out to be a broken belt and frozen bearing on the impeller/macerator shaft that did the flushing. I managed to replace the belt, broken belt sprocket and free up the bearing. Unfortunately the replacement for any besides the belt is an assembly that is one unit and is 340 bucks. Not to mention that it is difficult to get Jabsco parts. It's still flushing and not leaking after 4 months so I guess I got lucky. I decided that when it quits again, just to replace the toilet with a Thetford (probably) and plumb it for fresh water as discussed in several topics elsewhere on the forum.

OK, managed to get the toilet disconnected and out into a bigger space. No blockage and the actual electric motor looks clean, no rust or water leakage. But the impeller/augur is pretty much froze and I cant really see how it comes off the actual motor, unfortunately it looks like one piece .
So I assume you have to buy the whole unit? If so, do you know where I could get one? Looks like its a Thetford 36180 12V.

I bought one recently from Defender

I’ve run into some problems with my toilet and removed it several times (2017 R 29) including a clog up and a motor going bad. I have a techno’s Electronic manual I can send if you wish.
