Is there any reason you can't add water manually to the head , to flush while camping ? is it hard on any components ? We think we have the other items covered to turn the Ranger into a RV . Any other ideas which work for you ? thanks

When we are Boaterhoming we do use the head by adding water from the fresh water tank for flushing. If we're at an RV park we try to, much like at a marina, try to use the shore facilities to help keep from filling up the holding tank so quickly. We do not have a diesel heater on Kismet so we've bought a tall electric heater to help ward off the cold during those less then ideal days and nights.

We do the same as the Favors. In fact we flush using freshwater from the faucet whenever we are in the marina as well and have easy access to both water and a pump out (I use pump out as an excuse to exercise the boat...funny how it takes a loop around Angel Island and Alcatraz just to get to the pump out station two fairways away). Salt water for long trips just to save freshwater.

The othe trick we use is to put a plastic wash basin into the sink to capture dishwater and other stuff, and then dump that into the head and flush it. You just have to keep an eye on the holding tank so that you don't get poopocalypse or crapageddon while trailering. Tough to pump it out when that happens.

Others have developed nice rigs for connecting to RV dump stations and trailer parks. They are described in earlier discussions. We use them so rarely it wasn't worth the effort.
