Can you tell me the function or purpose of the Heater toggle switch on the instrument panel just right of the helm wheel?
 
My best guess would be that it's there to control the diesel heater if there is one.
 
Our boat has a heater that uses hot coolant from the engine when running. When the engine isn't running there is a diesel furnace. The switch at the helm controls the fan for the engine coolant heater. (Commonly called a Red Dot heater, but I think that is actually a brand name.)
