I seem to be having problems with both of my helm chairs.....here is another question for you! In the interior salon where captains helm chair is located, the leather (faux leather?) is flaking off the chair on the outer portion of chair. The boat is a 2012 (although i purchased in 2013). I have less than 500 hours on boat and I am wondering...is this normal? At this point, there is nothing but some sort of lining underneath where all the faux leather has shed. Can I get replacement leatherette (fabric) for it? What would you recommend....wondering if i can ge it reupholstered with a real leather. Thanks

We had the same issue, as others have.

We opted for a professional reupholstering job. Not cheap, but fantastic results.

Did you use leather or faux leather to replace it?

Same issue with ours. We have a 2012 R29 and have been told that the material used was never intended to be used for seating in a marine environment. I have been trying to get some material to replace what I need to for the time being, but the manufacturer will not sell it. It is going to be expensive to replace all the cushions so everything matches.

I have purchased from http://www.sailrite.com in the past...they carry LOTS of marine grade fabrics to include quality vinyls, etc suitable for boat seating surfaces. I offer this as a suggestion for another place to look for your material shopping.
