After sailing for many years, this is my first power boat so I’m not familiar with what is normal and what isn’t. My boat is a 2011 R27.
I’ve been trying to figure out when the helm is at Top-Dead-Center (TDC). I’ve taped the wheel at TDC when I was sure the boat was heading in a straight line ( I do this in open water). Then I would make a few turns and the TDC tape could be anywhere from 45° to 90° off of TDC. What is even more confusing is I can not figure out a pattern. This is very frustrating when entering a harbor at low speed because I am continually turning the helm first 90° one way then 90° the other.
Any input would be appreciated.
