Is there a rebuild pump kit for the helm pump?
It seems that I have to keep correcting to the right to hold a straight coarse (one full revolution /1/8 mile).
It is obvious that the pistons within the pump are leaking by, or is there a check valve within that may be the culprit.

It sounds like your check valves are stuck in the helm or you may simply have air in the system. Call me and we can go thru some troubleshooting

RJM,
I have been experiencing that almost since taking possession of my tug last May. It has been slightly challenging to get acknowledgment that this is a problem I can have. It occurs in both of my steering stations (upper and lower). At this point I am "in the queue" to have my fluid bled and run through the "machine/tool". I am very skeptical that will fix the problem but I will be cautiously optimistic. I had not heard about the "check valves" yet. It is almost annoying to be the driver having to continuously turn to go straight.

Is there any 'play' in the rudder mechanism ? You can check this by peering down through the floor hatch inside of the cockpit transom locker. The actuator rod attaches to the rudder arm via a pin/bolt. Make sure this is secure and not wonky.

Just a thought....

I will check mine but I doubt if there is play in there.
