Hello out there,
My wife and I are planning on purchasing an R-27 with another couple. Unfortunately all the boat shows are either cancelled or postponed. Are there any R-27 owners in or near the Santa Barbara/Ventura area who would be willing to allow us to checkout your beautiful boat? The four of us have been staying isolated and only go to work or hangout with each other. We of course would follow all mask wearing, and hand sanitizing precautions. We are hoping to be able to see a boat this weekend if that is possible since we are all off work. Maybe a case of your favorite brew or a nice bottle of Santa Barbara area wine might help you decide. Hopefully we will be able to check a boat out before we make the big plunge.
Thanks in advance, fellow future Ranger owner.

We berthed over the winter in our 2008 R25 near an R27 in Hilton Head SC. The R27 was 5 years old. the new ones have an outboard I believe. Compared to ours the R27 has a lot more room in the V-berth and cabin. Complete propane stove/oven
and microwave. So on retrospect I would go for the 27. On our R25 it was my wife and I and we got along fine ( we are still married ). 🙂 Go for as big as you can afford. More room and power. We ran into high waves and wind in Charleston harbor and had to tuck in behind a bigger vessel getting to the marina. Boat did alright but we were a wreck. One thing I noticed on ours was no access to the fuel tank or fresh water tank. I'm not sure if they corrected that oversight on the newer boats but you might want to check on that. Nothing worse than dirty fuel and getting it out of the tank. Also check underneath the cleats and safety rails for proper supports. Ours has just two large washers. Should have backing plates instead. Got some gel coat cracking where the hand rails attach to the deck over time. The R27 is similar to the 25 , just more room and amenities plus a bigger engine. It's trailerable also.

Hope this helps a bit.

Four living on board, 27 or 31 for sure.

Hi,

This is a pretty old thread, but if you are still interested we have a 2011 R-27 in Ventura Harbor that you are welcome to take a look at.
