My 2014 R31 is on the Great Lakes. I'm wondering what the holding tank switch function is I, of course, have turned the off overboard lever so the holding tank can't go overboard. So, is the holding tank switch only for the purpose of pumping overboard, does it grind up the solids in the tank for easier pumpout, or what? I don't want to jam up the system. or uselessly use battery power.

Thanks.

The switch you’re talking about, if it’s on your dash or electric panel this is for overboard discharge in legal waters. If your tank lever is closed for overboard discharge this will do nothing if you turn the toggle switch to on other then make noise. On our R29S this toggle switch had “macerator “ printed on it, yours could different. Inside of the macerator motor/pump there is a grinder that further reduces matter as it goes overboard.

Thanks, Jim.

Look at what I learned about using my generator to charge the batteries.
