Has anyone bypassed the engine coolant going to hot water heater? I don’t really care about having hot water while running but concerned that it just represents another “weak spot” for low engine coolant level via hot water heat exchanger leak. Assume you can still get hot water via the electric side when docked. Thanks in advance. Tim

I closed valves to hot water coolant with potential leaks in mind. Can still get hot water with electric.

And where are the valves to close off the heater. Thanks for your insight.
Tim

Typically FM mounts the coolant ball valves inline on the hoses coming out of the forward starboard side of the engine. Shutting them off isolates both the water heater and the hydronic cabin heater.

Thanks for your insights. I looked for the shutoff valves under the floor hatch just inside cabin door but didn’t see them. I’ll try again. Have to say, Cutwater didn’t make it that easy getting to key components.

I think the valves you are looking for are on the front wall of the engine bay. Just to the starboard side of the coolant tank.

Valves are in the engine compartment, in front of the alternator.

Those valves are pretty much hidden. Couldn’t find them. May need a leprechaun to reach them.

Great pic, but I didn’t see that. I’ll look again. Eyesight ain’t what it used to to be! Thanks for sending.

To replace the serpentine belt, I cut an access opening in the rear wall of the mid berth and to my surprise I found the two valves. In the photo you can see the heater hoses that are connected to the valves.1000000079.jpg
