How is the house water on the 2014 R-25 heated? I assume via engine heater exchanger when underway, on 110 volt power when plugged in at the dock and using the diesel heating system when on the hook.

Unless you have a special diesel heating system, it does not heat the water. However, the hot water tank is well insulated. Depending on the ambient temperature, I usually have enough hot water in the morning. Your other assumptions are correct.

I am not sure about the special diesel heating system. It does have forced air cabin heating system that is diesel.

Correct, the forced air is diesel, but it does not heat the water for hot water. That is a much more different unit.

Mike (knotflying) is correct. Underway the engine heats the hot water and electricity at the dock. Nothing on the hook unless you want to run the engine. We just traded in an 2014 R25SC for a R29S so we have experienced the hot water situation on the hook. Mike is also correct in that the water heater holds the heat for a fair amount of time after the engine is turned off. Also, to run the engine on the hook to create hot water uses a minimal amount of fuel.

If you have a generator, you can use that on the hook to get the electric to run the water heater. Most of the 6 gallon water heaters will be up to temp in 15 minutes, and will hold that heat for hours.
