Question, CB 30, I want to put a house battery monitor in, but just to support the house bank. Can I simply take the - lead off the bank (port) running over to the common buss on the Stbd side, and run the shunt between the battery bank - and the buss bar on the other side of the boat? Just looking for battery bank state of charge, and AHs remaining. Would this accomplish that goal?

Yes, just disconnect and consolidate the grounds for the house battery onto the shunt and run the appropriate sized cable from the shunt to the battery.

Don't know if they're still wiring them this was, but on most that I've seen they have a ground cable from one side of the house bank that goes over to the ground bus, then a second one on the opposite end that goes over to the inverter/charger, hence the need to consolidate. Otherwise data readings would very quickly get skewed.

So Probably have to bring alll 4 of the Neg battery connections over to its own buss bar, then route thru the shunt over to the load buss, on the stbd side, right?

All 4 battery negatives connect to one side of the shunt in whatever configuration fits the instalation best. No other small ground wires on this side of the shunt (like the solar controll and any aftermarket items). All the other grounds connect to the opposite stud on the shunt, Including The solar Controller

New Renogy Solar system going in this winter along with new house bank, so I will add that to the list. Thanks
