Maybe a dumb question but should the 2 house batteries on a 2022 C be connected in series or parallel?

Parallel because parallel batteries increase capacity while maintaining the same voltage, series batteries increase voltage while maintaining capacity (amp-hours). So parallel batteries will still be 12 volts which your equipment runs on, if you put them in series they would put out 24 volts.

Thanks for the response! That's what I thought. Just to be sure...the battery jumper cables should be positive to positive and negative to negative? The reason I ask is that just recently when I' m on shore power and turn on the battery charger I get a faint rev polarity light AND a faint inverter light. When I test the ground fault sensor I get a ground fault test fail. What could be causing that?

Pedestal could be a problem, might not have a good ground. Try another pedestal see what happens. The shore power cord or your shore power connector on the boat. Check for corrosion on the cord. I would pull out the shore power connector and check the wires. Could be fried there. Dielectric grease is a good thing to be using.
