How are the hatches sealed, not the actual opening part, but the static part where it screws to the deck/roof?

This weekend was a very wet and rainy weekend for us. I went on board my boat a little while ago and noticed that all three hatches were leaking around the outer edge. Will all the screws need to be re-tightened? Or should I use some silicon sealant? Would warranty cover this?

Thanks in advance,

Bri

I am sure the factory will chime in here, but I thought I would mention. If the hatches are about the same as the R-25. I took two of mine off and changed the direction of them. They used simple marine sealer around the hatches. Quite easy to take them loose and reseal and put back down in a matter of minutes. I turned the ones up front to scoop more air. Worked really well. They are same dimensions in both directions.

We seal all hatches, windows, doors, port holes with a rubber seal so they are very easy to remove. If you would like to file a warranty claim you will need to contact the dealer you purchased the boat from. This can be a very easy fix like Capt D was saying. The first thing I would check is to really see where the leak is coming from. Pull the inside frame off in the cabin and have someone spray some water around the hatches and you will see exactly where they are leaking from. If it is coming in through the actual hatch then we will need to take a different approach by getting you new hatches. If it is coming in through the seal between the cabin top and the hatch then some new rubber gasket would do the trick and I would be happy to send you out some new gasket material. Please let me know as I will be happy to help in anyway I can!

Thanks!

I'll try the water hose trick this weekend to be sure, but I do think the water is coming in around the frame where it mounts to the roof.

I'll report back this weekend.

Thanks again,
Bri
