Since purchasing my 2015 21EC a few months ago ... Most of my fellow... "go fast" friends act genuinely concerned for my safety ...? They seem to think I'm gonna get into crazy situations ..,unable to run from a storm that blows up in the Mississippi Sound ... From everything I've seen on post and videos ..the little tug might beat you up a little but using common sense and not venturing to far out .. WILL return you to safe harbor..!!

Good afternoon Captain Paul,
Last summer my wife and I took out tug out to Ship Island to spend the night and tour Fort Massachusetts. We eventually anchored on the Eastside of ship island about 50 yards from the shore. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset lots of dolphin and had a wonderful grilled dinner aboard our 21 EC. About 2 o'clock in the morning I awoke to the sound of a storm coming in from the east. Initially, we sat tight and thought about riding the storm out. After an hour or so the storm intensified and I knew we needed to leave to seek safe shelter at the Biloxi marina where we had a slip. What I can tell you about the sea worthiness of our tug is we made it safely back to the marina in the dark in 6 foots seas and with gust of wind over 30 knots with NO PROBLEMS. Honestly, I trust our boat in any sea condition that a reasonable Marriner would have to be in. Hopefully this will answer your question and strike down any doubts in anyones mind as to the seaworthiness of these boats. We are planning another trip to ship Island this summer maybe we will see you on the water.

Cheers,
Karl and Sara

I certainly hope so .. Thanks for your post of confidence in this amazing little boat ..!!

Have you seen the video of our tug in 4-6 feet waves on the tugnuts facebook page? The waves were close, the wind at 25 kts we too had to raise anchor and navigate in 6 feet wave at two in the morning, not fun but still doable. Planification is a must, it's hard to outrun a storm at 8 kts...

.. do you have a link to the video ?? couldn't find it .. Rob

I could not find it either, and would really like to see it.

In the Tugnut facebook page, look for my post (Patrick Vanier) I posted a picture and a video on november 4th. The video was done on Great Rideau Lake (part of the Rideau Canal) at the time of recording they were at least 4 feet high and quite close together. I was cruising at 5 kts. The wave height was between 4-6 feet that day! It does not look as bad on camera, but onboard, its rocking allright!

I have had mine in 5- and 6-foot seas off Point Wilson in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The crew got a little wobbly but the boat handled it fine!!!

Here's a link to the post. The Tugnuts Facebook page is a closed group, so I don't know if the video will be visible to the public. If you can't see it, you can ask to join the group. The admins are pretty prompt.

Cheers,

Bruce

Finally found and watched the video (thanks, Bruce). Wish I had those wipers!

I, too, have posted a short vid on the Tugnuts Facebook page. It was during a ride in my 21EC in Dec 2015 on the Apalachicola river. River flow was brisk - near flood stage and the wind was strong in the direction opposite river flow which created impressive, closely-spaced wind waves 2-3' in height. Nothing scary. Anyway, the vid demonstrates the way the 21EC easily handles this kind of stuff.
