have to flip the switch in the cockpit multiple times for it to work... How do you take the switch off to service it? No visible screws... at this point I am considering taking out the speaker below it to get access to the wires and back of switch.

I had the same problem. Without taking the switch off the boat I sprayed as best I could CRC into its internals. I then exercised the switch on/off for a few minutes. I came back the next day and it has been working for over a year without any problems. This is now part of my yearly maintenance.

I got this response from Eric Steele at New Wire Marine:

There are small plastic tabs on the top and bottom of the switch. You can press them in in with your fingers.

1 - take all the wires off
2 - put thumb and forefinger of one hand on top and bottom of switch, and press those tabs down.
3 - use thumb of other hand to keep constant pressure on the back of the switch... pressing outward, so it pushes out when your first hand gets the tabs pressed in.
