Amplifying on my earlier post dithering about davits and motor mounts, have any of you tug owners installed a Hurley Davit on your swim platform that has the propane box on it? I am concerned about the lever arm effect of extending a 200 lb RIB (with motor) so far out over the swim platform. I also realize I have to give up the swim platform rails (as previously noted).

Thanks!

Jeff

I just ordered the Hurley H2O 10" davits for my R25SC (without propane tank or rails). I have not yet installed them yet but I have spent a considerable amount of time finding the balance point on my Zodiac 230 Aero (56lbs) and determining exactly where I am mounting them. My Zodiac has a 4' 5" beam and I wanted just enough space to fit my feet between the transom and the Zodiac so that I can lash her down properly. The center of the Zodiac is going to be right over the fenders on the rear of the platform. If you have the propane tanks mounted on the platform you will need the 36" arm davits, which would put the tender back some distance. I would not want to do that with a 200 lb load, but that doesn't mean it would not work. If you send Hurley Marine the form from their website filled in I found they send you a response the next business day.

Thanks. I've been talking to the Hurley folks. They have been very responsive.
