Hydrolic Steering System Purge r27

In my experience each different hydraulic steering system has unique ways they want it to be bled. I usually try to just follow the instructions in the manual for that unit. Hopefully you have the manual around.

It depends on why you are purging the system. If you are just topping off fluid the manual instructions are fine. If you have disconnected lines near the autopilot pump a more rigorous method is needed. It takes more pressure to clear the bubbles from the autopilot pump. The factory guys use a power bleeder pump to clear the lines. If needing to do this and you have access to a bleeder pump that is the best option.

Having said this, I have used the Bubble Purge Pro system successfully after installing a check valve near the autopilot pump. After getting all the visual bubbles out of the system there was still a bubble in the Auto Pilot pump. I had to force the steering wheel against the steering direction while in AP mode. Not sure it’s the best method but it worked.
