I will be towing my R27 from Louisville to Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan in a couple weeks. The shortest route is via I-65. The last time I drove that route a few years ago, I-65 north of Indianapolis was being rehabilitated and it was a miserable trip for many, many miles. Are there any Tugnuts that use that road that can give me a pilot report on whether that project has been completed?

No knowledge of I-65 however I just came up I-57 from Kentucky to south of Chicago and that route was mostly construction free. It would be a little out of the way as you’d have to take I-69 west. If you get to Northern Michigan and we can help you Bill please feel free to reach out to us. Safe travels.

My plans at this time are to cruise Green Bay and Lake Michigan maybe as far as Mackinac Island starting at Cedar River State Harbor on the Michigan side of Green Bay. Afterwards, I’ll tow back down to Oshkosh and slip the boat at Pioneer Marina on Lake Winnebago to use for accommodations during the big airshow. The airport is a 20 minute bike ride from the marina so it’s a double-header of interests for me. The Green Bay cruise may be switched to after the airshow depending on weather.

It’s a perfect trailer trawler trip.

I just sold one of my Indiana properties about a month ago. I took 65 S to just north of lafayette. I don't recall any construction delay. The road was in very good shape. I did not see any warning signs for up ahead. A google search should reveal any issues with that commute. I did go on a weekday in the middle of the day. Ran down closed ran back. So other than the typical big city frustrated rude drivers I had no problems. I will often take a side road. I like to see farm machinery and look for things to buy. 421 , old 41, are a couple good choices. You might have a few stop lights but not much road rage in rural America. Take your time enjoy the trip. I highly recommend White Castle for lunch. Having grown up in Chicago area, I will sometimes take my Porsche for a spin to Indiana just to enjoy some White Castle. One thing you cannot buy in West Michigan. Sounds like a fun trip. I'm glad to hear the air show is back.

I did do a Google search. The information retrieved about construction from INDOT was all at least a year or two old. I have been watching it on Google Maps and on the northern end of I-65, I have seen long stretches of red a couple times. I plan to tow early on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
