Some people say "don't get off a winning horse!" In my case, change it to boat. I have had a 21 Tug down in Grand Cayman (where she is the belle of the ball) for two years and this year decided after almost 65 years a sailor, it was time to go to power here in the States. There was no contest. I took delivery of a 25 SC 2 weeks ago and love it! It came loaded with goodies (she was a boat show "show boat") but there was little extra cost involved. I am gradually learning how everything works and the wife and I are enjoying some local day "sailing" and looking forward to being inside on the water during the cool Autumn months. Only problem I have is getting reception on the TV which should not be a problem as I am about 25 mi from NYC (as the crow flies). Basically, I get squat save for a couple of UHF channels. If anyone has any suggestions on programming the TV (surely not an essential to enjoying our boat) I would be more than open to trying them. Since I am a writer (see my website, http://www.seafiction.net) and the 21 (planned to be my "last" boat) was named "EPILOGUE", I struggled for a while but finally decided on "THE LAST WORD ..." Maybe, maybe not; we'll have to wait and see! 😉 All best to you all!

You are not alone with poor reception. I replaced my antenna with a Glowmex and the reception is better, 9 channels and most are offbeat. How many times can you watch Criminal Minds on CW?? I think the location of the antenna on the boat is not an ideal location and from another thread on this, the mast may be a better place. We have traveled on our boat quite a bit and usually close proximity to a major city helps. NYC lost good transmission off the twin towers because of 9/11. So perhaps that may be your issue as well. Until then you may have to settle for Criminal Minds or Spanish cartoons on QUOBO.

You did not say weather you did a search for TV channels. Every time you move the boat to a new area you have to search for channels. I am not at my boat right now to give the exact procedure but it is on the menu somewhere.

Not sure if your 25 came with an external tv antenna or not (ours didn't) but we got a portable amplified HD antenna from an RV outlet (camping world). It looks like place mat and plugs into a 12 volt outlet. You just stick it on the window when needed. I picked up a double 12v plug so both tv and antenna could use the same outlet.

Thanks everyone for the TV reception advice! I have tried everything except the "place mat" antenna. I appreciate the help and will most likely use the tv for watching the occassional DVD which it does very nicely! While out poking around our local area today we met Dennis Nitka on Three Cheers (R27) - not more than a couple of miles from our home port. We heard all about his cruise up the Hudson to the Erie Canal and more! Now we have either 3 or 4 Rangers in the Two River area.... Love the boat! 😀
