As per my last (and first) post, I impulsively bought the last R21ec at the Toronto boat show. It's caused me to wonder how many people walk out of a boat show owning a boat they didn't plan to buy.

I didn't plan to buy my R25. Best mistake I ever made

"Best mistake I ever made."

Best line ever.

I know the feeling. I went with a friend to look at a RT-21EC he was considering, he felt the boat was too small for him, his wife and his 2 100+ lb dogs. We then looked at the 23OB, he really liked the 23 and then the dealer said he was getting in a 27OB in a few weeks. After riding in the 23OB and the 27OB, I put down a deposit on a 27OB and my friend is now looking at a used Nortic Tug 32. I had no intention of buying a boat, I was just going along for the ride with my friend.

The first Ranger Tug I came across was in 2009 when Jeff Messmer was filling up his tow mule at his and my local gas station. He had the R-21EC on a trailer and I wandered over to it admiring it's looks and quality build. I chatted with Jeff and he said he was delivering the boat to a customer. Our chatting went on some and the next week my wife and I went to the Kent factory with my intention firmly on the R-21EC from a cost perspective. We looked at the R-21EC and got into it and looked around. Then my wife wanted to know about the boat alongside the R-21EC which happened to be a R-25 (Classic). A bigger boat for sure with a great deal more in terms of cabin comfort etc. My wife simply said to my surprise, if you want a boat the R-25 is the correct choice. I sharpened my pencil and worked the numbers with Jeff and on Father's Day I placed a call to Jeff and told him to make My Father's Day for me. We agreed on a price and the rest is history. 🙂

We know the feeling...well! It's happened twice. And I think we need to blame Jeff Mesmer both times. Thirteen years ago at the Seattle Boat Show we were just going to "check-out" the C-Dorys and thanks to Jeff and his team, we ended up signing on the dotted line within the first hour. 😀

Fast forward to last September and we decided to "check-out" the R-23 at the Boats Afloat Show. Jeff and Andrew were ready for us and sure enough, we signed on the dotted line again.

But like mentioned above, we may have been impulsive but definitely no regrets!

I never thought I'd buy a boat but when I was 17 my brother brought home a 16' Lyman that we ran the paint off running all over Lake Erie and Sandusky bay. Next thing I know, I'm turning 67 and just purchased our 17th boat. (R25SC). That littl Lyman lit a fire I've never been able to extinguish! My wife and I have met some of the nicest people while boating and that now includes all the Tugnuts out there.

We went to Milwaukee Boat show "just to look"............sort of like going to an animal shelter to "just look" at dogs..

Hey honey look what followed me home.........2018 Ranger R27..........can I keep her?

She said YES!!!!!

Some 2+ years ago, a fellow yacht club member downsized from a big 46 footer to an r25 to get a slip in a marina. When he parked in front of my catamaran sail boat during a club cruise out. I liked the boat very much as a downsizing target and the fact it was trailerable. When we got home I put my cat and my Rv up for sale and got an r27 3 month later. I had to pull out some investment from a company to juggle the payment since the cat did not sell fast enough. A year later the company I had invested in closed doors and I would have lost my investment. That little tug saved me some money, something you can’t say every day about a boat purchase.
