The Lucky Fin is loaded and the truck is filled to the brim. No camper on this year as we plan on sleeping on the boat. More room than the camper anyway. Truck stops here we come. 3000 miles and starting count tomorrow. The weather window looks good.

The plan for the winter is: Ocala will be home base, A week or so on the St Johns river, Launch in Crystal River in the gulf, head south to Key West. Get to Palm Beach in early Feb, head for the Bahamas. ( Abacos), Be home by 1st of June.

It is a tough life , but someone has got to do it.

Insert some time on the driving range some where in there. 😎

Darrell,
Thanks for taking one for the team! You guys have a great time and keep us posted on your trip! See you in September!

CaptD

Have a safe trip south to Ocala! Call and let us know when you will be on the St. Johns as we would like to get together. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this winter! Maybe we can even make it to Silver Glen.

Frank

Better hurry before they close the grouper season ! Maybe we can get out to fish this year ! If you want to swap that tiny little R 25 for an R 29 on your way to Ocala , let me know !
Marc

Progress: Kadoka, So Dak about 900 miles down range. Found a nice truck stop to spend the night, Tought to find on this stretch of the hyw. Hoping to get to Mitchel and spend the night at Cabellas. Late start on monday so......

Fuel running $2.78 to $2.90 so far , Hope it gets a little cheaper.
Use a fish snare on one of those grouper, Marc. I'll be there shortly.
Frank, I hope we can get it done this year. Dee likes that river. Got lots of plans for this winter,

Capt. Darrel and Dee spotted in Apalachicola with the Lucky Fin in tow at Papa Joe's Oyster Bar. Amazing timing as I had just done a demo [with tropical storm Ida a few hundred miles to the South West, that was FUN!] with some potential new "family members" folks and we all got together for sweet tea and fresh oysters and Tug Talk ! Gotta love a Tugnut!
Marc

Yup, Marc got it right. I ate 2 doz. oysters and half of Dee's grouper. It is good to be back down here.
We are now in Ocala after a tiring 3000 mile run.
Now we will look for garage sales and for used furniture to fill the cabin. Trips to Sams for groceries and bug killer. It is a shame to kill these poor defenceless little beasts. Lets see.....what do these locals call those large creepy crawlers? oh ya, Palmmetto bugs. In Mexico it seems like it was something like 'El cockaroachee'. I have been asured by these same locals they are different from cockroaches. Dee feels a lot better knowing there are none of those around.

Plan:
fix cabin up
go catch grouper
fix cabin
go catch grouper
Find slip for Lucky Fin on Gulf side
go catch grouper
cruise to Key west , Catch a big Jew fish, oops I mean goliath grouper
Abacos,
Now things could change, depends on, only God knows what. Of course Dee over rules all ,

I am now down here with lots of gathering snow birds and this thread can now come to a abrupt end. 😉

Darrell,
You left out:
"Buy new R-29" on your to do list.......

And about those Palmento Bugs.... a broom or bat works very well for killing them! Anyone that has not been to Florida, these things grow to three inches in length and fly! When they enter the room it sounds as if a small airplane has flown in! Then there are the tree spiders..... big, hairy, and ugly! Our daughter used to use Aqua Net hairspray to stop them in their tracks! Never killed them, they just could not move with all that hairspray. It did leave a nice design on the wall when you removed them too!

Aw yes, Florida! The place where all of the lower forms of life thrive!

Darrell,
Hull number 2912 is still available looking for a great couple to call her theirs........ She won't last long!
