ice makers and inverters

Has any one used a modified wave length inverter( example would be a 300 watt unit selling for about $30.00 )to run a portable ice maker like the Home brand 120 volt 200 watts selling for about $95.00
 
I ran a portable ice maker with the factory installed 1500W MSW inverter on a R27 I used to own. It worked great on this. I would be concerned with a 300W inverter handling the compressor startup surge on the ice maker.

Our factory u-line ice maker works fine with factory pro mariner 2500 msw.
