I was just informed from Boatus that you cannot use the MMSI number for vhf radio that they supply if you plan on going into international waters. You need to be registered with the FCC US government site. The FCC will reissue a whole new MMSI number. Since the factory supplied radio only allows you to enter one MMSI number, you need to send it back to the factory for a reset so you can change to a new number. Go to the FCC gov. Website and call them. The application site is not easy to navigate. The customer service will email you the links and some helpful information.
