While I was accessing the bow thruster compartment on our R-25, I took a look at the bilge using a mirror and flashlight. I could see the end of a cylindrical-shaped metal object in the bottom of the "vee" at point where the space narrows, but was unable to judge where it was in relation to other "geographical features" or its distance from the bow.
I know there is a part of the Raymarine Compass below the sole, at the step between the helm and the 1st Mate's seat. Is the item I saw a part of that, or is there a possibility I'm seeing a wayward aluminum can that made it's way into the bilge? If it is a piece of unnecessary "trash", are there access points from which I can remove the item and inspect the remainder of the bilge? Due to it's location and size, it appears the cylinder could create a damming effect if there was a leak forward, preventing or restricting water from flowing aft to the bilge pump below the engine.
