Does anyone have any suggestions on where we could have the Weaver Dinghy Davits installed? We live in Port Townsend, but can trailer the boat to have this done.

Marie,

I have walker davits on my swim platform - it takes just a few minutes to put that part on. Depending on the dinghy you have, it may be a trick to do that half. If you have a person who works on your dinghy, once that part is done, the other part can be done in the water in just about 1 beer's worth of time.

I took my Weaver davits off to rebed them and found water coming out the bottom through bolt holes. So I think the swim platform is cored and therefore need preparation to the internal core before you tighten the bolts or you will crack the glass and have a water logged swim platform and perhaps the solid core plywood spacers for the staple rails will rot, what a mess, hopefully I have caught my in time ?

The swim platform, with the rails, seems to be the best spot. That way you can tie the davit into the rails for strength. I have a Gaurhauer lift. I use it for the motor and I made a bridal for the dink. Plus it's removable, I store it in the cockpit. That way I can still BBQ on the swim platform. Plus no one will be tempted to steel it.

I thing he is looking for an installer, not to DIY.
