I'd like to install a galvanic isolator on my C28, but it's not clear which is the best location. I see in the wiring diagram that shore power goes first to ELCI breaker (under stove) on port side, but that whole area is unreachable or very hard to reach. That line then crosses from the ELCI breaker panel to the AC breaker panel on starboard. I did see a post where someone installed the isolator near AC breaker panel, but there was no detail on how that was done. Before I go pulling things apart, I thought I'd see if others have already determined the best method? Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you just make up a 'pig tail' with the GI that plugs into the shore power cable and not mount it permanently in the boat?

I would try and locate it as close to the shore power socket as is possible. The GI is protecting your boat from shore power misbehaving.

I am sure you can buy an isolator that just plugs in between your cable and shore power. I recall safeshore makes on for about $100+

Did you ever find a good location? I've just ordered a Galvanic Isolator myself and was hoping to minimize the search for a good location.
Thanks

As close to the shore power inlet worked for me. I was able to install it in the battery Lazzarett on my R-27. Just ran the line down and into the locker. I used 5200 and glued a piece of starboard to the hull and mounted it there, protected from any water that may overflow from the gutter.

Thanks Mike. I was considering doing a drop from the inlet, just hope there is enough slack once I unscrew the shore power fixture to do some cutting and splicing. I like the idea of using Starboard and 5200.
