Installing Garmin 18hd+ in 21EC

Hey tuggers,

I was gifted a Garmin radar dome and I’m going to install it once this darn rain stops. Has anyone done this install? If so do you have any tips? My boat is a 2014 and my plotter is compatible and should be plug and play. Mostly curious about running the cables from the mast down to the helm.

Hi,
I would do the plug and pray inside the boat before running the wiring. Its a lot easier to troubleshoot if you know it works before you wire.

Tyler, I ran the wires through the side of the smoke stack, the power cable down the stripper pole, under the deck then to the fuse panel under the helm. The cable to the GPS was run in the overhead behind the headliner forward then down the window trim to the unit. The hardest part of the install was mounting the unit on the mast so it could fold down for road use.

I added the 24" to my little R-21 Scout. The 18" will mount directly to the mast and the 24" required an additional mounting plate. I probably have some pictures/video at home. I'll look an send you a PM.
