Hello All,
I recently purchased a used 2022 cutwater c24. I need help regarding installation of a Garmin radar unit. I plan on installing a GRM 18hd3 radar unit on my 2022 c-24. Any advise or suggestions regarding installation would be appreciated. Photos of your installation would be most helpful. What tower or base did you use? Was it much work to run the cables?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Before you go through the expense and trouble is it something you really need. I have a C24 also that I use on Chesapeake Bay and I take it to Florida each year and rarely use it. I turn it on a couple times a year just to see if it’s working properly. I would say that in the last 6 years I have only needed it two to three times. I also have friends that have radar on their boats and hardly ever use them. Friends with bigger boats use them much more. If planning on traveling in fog or heavy rain storms then it’s a must. Just my opinion.

It's also highly useful if you run at night. Dark or fog can be very disorienting and radar helps a lot. That assumes you know how to use/read it. If not experienced with it then it's advisable to run it frequently in clear weather to get used to it.

That said I boat on Prince William Sound where fog/mist/rain are fairly common occurrences. In 25 seasons I've not actually needed it but a couple of times. Is it nice to have? Most certainly.

Joe, concerning your question about the radar installation, usually the best route for running the cables is to follow the route of the running and anchor lights. As for the radar mount that depends on your preference, numerous options are available and depending on what looks best on your boat!
A radar is a small investment for added safety while boating, when needed.
At least that’s how I sold it to the wife when I installed it on my boat.
Best of luck. Bob
