I'm looking at purchasing 1996 R21 , it doesn't have a marine head or holding tank.
Is there room in the 1996 to install a small marine head and holding tank under the v berth.
And has anyone put a 12 volt refrigerator in a 1996 R21....
Thank you....
Nick

You should consider a composting head if you're starting from scratch. We used on on a previous boat that only had a port-potty. It was the single best thing we did to improve the quality of our boating experience on that boat. We had a Natures Head. Air Head is another popular brand.

I've been using composting heads for, at least 5 years. First in a sailboat, now in my RT-29 classic. Less smell than a head with a holding tank, easy to maintain. Several of the brands make models for tight spaces; do some shopping. "Composting" is a bit of a misnomer. Periodically you will have to dump the #2 material plus whatever media you are using (sawdust, wood chips etc.) into a plastic bag and place it in a dumpster. With 2 adults on the boat, we go about 2 weeks between doing that. The liquid (#1) tanks needs to be dumped almost every day. You can carry it to and dump it into a toilet. I will dump it overboard if anchored somewhere. Again, even my wife's sensitive nose detects less odor than a traditional holding tank arrangement.
