I am brand new to the Volvo Penta D4-300 motor. Before I received my boat I tried to find as much information as I could about the diesel engine, but couldn't find an introductory video. When my boat was delivered I had a friend take some video of the overview of the boat that I could cut up and produce. I plan to produce three videos for my family; maintenance on the D4-300 engine, how to start the boat, and understanding the electrical panel. I just got done producing the first video. I hope that some of you find it helpful.

I imagine that some of you will have feedback on things that I might update, if that's the case please let me know.

Thanks, Robin

Wonderful... thanks for making the video!

Robin: Thanks very much for this video..... look forward to your other ones when you have the time. 😀

Excellent video. I just bought a 2018 R29S with the same engine and this really helps.

This is awesome! Thank you for making it, I just got my new/used 2014 with the D4300 and it is really helpful. You must have a great mechanic to have worked this through with you.

Robin,
Your video is excellent and very helpful. It is especially useful for new owners of used boats. Ranger Tugs and Cutwater boats could do the same thing for the common maintenance and repair requirements to assist owners that buy used boats. I understand, although I have not gone through it, that new boat owners get a good training session on their new boat at delivery. This does not occur for used boat transfers.
Thanks for your effort and well done.

Great video.
one note; the antifreeze is not typically just the regular store bought antifreeze. Its usually Volvo VCS yellow coolant (which is typically difficult to find from anyone except a volvo dealer)

I just watched your other two intro videos, and want to thank you! I'm still waiting for my R31-S, and being able to get the benefit of your walk-through is almost as good as the real thing. Well, almost.

Great video.

Why does the mechanic not want to extend the rod (that raises the cockpit floor) fully?

Why does the mechanic not want to extend the rod (that raises the cockpit floor) fully?

He told me that he's found that at times the extension rod sticks if you extend it all the way.

Robin...
EXCELLENT VIDEO !!!
Your mechanic boiled it all down to simple terms....
Looking forward to the other "two " videos you mentioned you would do on the boat, especially the electrical part...
This is such a great blog !!
THANKS !! (p.s. love the introductory music !!)
