At my marina I only have 15 amp service which I have lived with for 6 years and am used to it . I need to however be able to shut down systems to use other appliances I found out the charger inverter seems to be wired directly as turning off all the A/C breakers didn't shut it off. I havnt started digging yet so wanted to ask .How is it connected in the panel as I would like to use one of the spare breakers for it.
Thank you

I'm not sure what's used on the R29, but it's usual for an inverter charger to have its own control panel, either mounted remotely or on the unit itself.
You should also have a 'Shorepower/Inverter/Generator' switch somewhere on your breaker panel.

I am also not sure what you are on to here. The inverter I have has a control rocker switch for off in the middle position on in the fault position or shore power in the top position. That swhich will control the inverter. If you want to control how much amperage you're using on 110v then you can turn your breakers that control each item on or off. The charger also has its own breaker. However, I would think you would want to leave that on so that your twelve volt systems that are being used do not drain the batteries.

Sorry is a 2011 R29... If I turn on my coffee machine and the charger happens to come on it will blow the breaker on shore, So I need to be able to temporarily switch off the charger. As I said been doing this on other boats for 6 years so have it figured out just need to be able to switch off the charger but leave shore power connected.

On my A/C panel I have a breaker for the charger even though the charger is combined with the inverter. I have assumed that this powered the charger seperately from the inverter. I have an R-27 so the configuration may be different than the R-29.

Here's my procedure for using my 1800 watt Inverter on my R-25.

Using the Inverter when ‘on the water’

1. Ensure Inverter main switch is ON (Inverter under port side step in cockpit)
2. On the Inverter panel next to radio set the switch ON
3. On AC Distribution panel to right of helm move slider UP to block the SHORE position and then flip the GENERATOR breaker switch ON

Thanks everyone.
I spoke with the manufacturer of the inverter and they said I could hook it up to a breaker so I can switch it off if I want. On the R29 it is wired direct to the incoming power so there is no way to turn it off when on shore power. This is so if it is switched to the on position, anything using A/C power ( other then the air conditioner and the stove ) keeps working uninterrupted if you unplug the boat to get underway.... which under normal conditions would not be a problem and preferred... but I'm far from normal 🙂
