My Black Bag contains separate manuals for the Charger and the Inverter.
However, I can't find the Inverter. Factory manual is mute on equipment locations.

A friend of mine with the same R-27 says the Charger is the Inverter.
Ok, fine. But, I looked at the Kinsae site and none of the charger / inverter combination products look anything like my labeled ABSO CHARGER 20A unit. I know inverter functionality is present as my 120 VAC outlets work on Inverter power.
But it bugs me that I can't find a manual for my unit so I know output capacity, etc.

Help?
Thanks,
Jeff Radwill

I was able to download the manual. It is titled Kinsae Abso Sinewave Inverter-Charger 1000W (IC121040) 2000W (IC122055). I downloaded it awhile ago so I do not recall exactly where I found it by presumably I found it from a Google search. PM me if you wish and I can send the file to you.

I believe you'll find (2) separate units: the inverter is located in the starboard locker just below the shorepower connection, and the charger is located behind the electrical panel in the cave.

My ABSO CHARGER 20A unit is in the starboard locker just below the shorepower plug.
I've looked behind the panel in the quarter berth (cave?), and see nothing. It's a very small space in there and the Inverters I have seen on the Kinsae site are at least 6 x 10 or so.

To amplify on my question, is the ABSO CHARGER 20A also the Inverter?

Hey Jeff,

The inverter should be below and behind the AC panel. Let me know if you are still having issues locating the inverter. My email is below in my signature.

Thanks,

Jeff

As kevin says it is behind the wood panel that has all the switches and breakers. Very tightly packed in there so cannot reset without unscrewing panel and pulling it back. A couple of the carpeted panels need to be taken off as well. Reset button is right near the the 110 plug on right side of inverter.

Hey Kevin,

I emailed your address a while back but have had no reply.
Looking at the electrical panel, the wood panel is mounted behind the fiberglass frame. How do I gain access once the screws are removed?

Thanks,
Jeff

I added a circular access port to reach the reset button on the inverter on my 2016 Cutwater 24. As shown in a photo in my TugNuts Album (that I have not been able to add to this post), the access port is to the right of the AC/DC panel and below the inverter control panel, on the wall aft of the "cave". I can now reach the ac plug/socket on the inverter as well as the adjacent reset button, without having to take apart the boat!

I did this once. If i remember correctly there are a few small fur wrapped panels that you unscrew and remove to make it easier. Then the plywood comes out from behind fiberglass by slighty bending the plywood pulling it out towards you.
Adding an access hole would be great. A remote reset button would be awesome.

Just curious, the charger / inverter on a 2014 -31 is in the aft / port storage / floor hatch right?

Yes, that’s the location for the charger/inverter and that is also where you find the red on/off switch.

Matty,
As always, you are a great help!
I began the process today by removing the two carpeted panels (above the cigarette lighter and outboard of the quarter-berth lamp). The plywood is 3/8", so I don't know how bendable it will be without cracking some plies. I'll give that a go tomorrow. With an inspection mirror and the pictures in the Kisae manual, I know I have a True Sine Wave inverter, and am fairly sure it is the 2 kW model, guessing from the unit's length. The Factory has plugged something into one of the AC outlets and I am very curious as to what it feeds. Any thoughts on that?
I am a bit relieved that the Remote Switch will perform the manual reset function of the unit's power switch, according to the manual. That's a good bit of news, if true. There is no possibility of an access panel as the Inverter's end with the display and power switch is buried behind the CB panels (micro wave, outlets / water heater, A/C, etc.), unless I build a new plywood panel and rewire the electrical panels to move them all outboard. If I do that, I will definitely mount the wood panel on the outside!
Methinks FM engineers have not heard of Maintainability. 🙁

I found the inverter and it is indeed almost impossible to get to.
Question... There is a white plug in one of the Inverter A/C outlets. Does anyone know what it supplies?
The Factory Schematic (laughing) shows nothing.
R27, 2019.

Thanks.

On my boat that plug connects the inverter to the power distribution panel.

Correct. Wire goes to supply distribution panel. You should also see the reset button near it. As someone stated earlier you may consider adding an access site so you don’t have to go through this again. Mine has only needed to be reset once in two years so I am not concerned. Good luck with putting things back together!
