Wooo HOOOO!

Well, it finally came together and soon we will be the proud owner of a new 21EC in Hunter Green, mooring in Edmonds!! Andrew made us a deal we couldn't refuse; financing came together, and now we can officially join the Tugnut party! Our boat name?

TugBug. 😀

This is the very beginning of our boating/cruising adventure, and we have a lot to learn and are excited to get underway! Very thankful for this community and for the service and everything that Ranger has done for us thus far. Never had a more pleasant experience during a large-ish purchase of anything in my life. I cannot say enough about their commitment to please the customer.

By the way, Andrew's name is now Magic Tug Elf. Please use it in all correspondence going forward. 🙂

Paul & Sunny

Fantastic news! Congratulations! I'm very happy for you and glad that everything worked out. Excellent name by the way.

Congratulation, this is very exciting for you, and the rest of us, the bigger the community the better of we all are. Insofar as Andrew, he pulled the exact same stunt on me..."make me an offer that I cant refuse" 😀

Regardless we will be looking forward to seeing you on the water and I second your comments regarding the folks at Ranger, never have I come across a company with such a knowledgeable group of professionals that take customer satisfaction as serious as they do.

Congrats Paul and Sunny! I'm glad it all worked out so well. Now you can say its FUN to spend money! 😀

Magic Tug Elf out...

Paul & Sunny:

A big welcome to you and TugBug.

I'm so pleased for you... when we met I felt sure you would be joining us... and mooring in Edmonds makes sense due to living in Shoreline. I wonder if we can get Edmonds Marina operations to co-locate all the Ranger Tugs somehow... at least so that we can all see each other's boats.

Edmonds policy for security reasons only issues keys to us that serve 2 Dock slip fingers. If you want to walk the other Docks/slips you have to request keys for ALL of them. I'm in the process of advocating they change this rule/policy at the Edmonds board meetings.

I like your choice of Hunter Green for your R-21EC.

Maybe we can cruise together up to Anacortes for the annual TugNuts meeting Sep 6-8... 🙂 We normally stop over for a night in LaConner and then it's an easy trip onto Anacortes from there.

I knew Andrew could make it work for you two. 😀

Congrats Paul & Sunny 😀
We are sharing the same happy moment our R 27 has also been started 😀 😀 😀
Cheers Peter & Ronie B
P.S.Not sure of the name for ours yet but working on lotsa ideas 🙂

Barry, that would be fantastic, if we are able to go. I've put us on the list for it but it's still tentative. I know we'd feel more confident cruising that far with you so that helps! How experienced can we get over the summer? Hopefully a lot! 🙂

Paul:

If your R-21EC is ready by end of May we can take a much shorter cruise down to Fisherman's Terminal meeting that's scheduled for May 24-26.

The distance is around 8.5 miles and would take maybe 1.5 hours at 7 kts as we have to pass through the big/small lock to get to the Fisherman's Terminal.

If this is a possibility then PM Bob & Nita on Nellie Too. See http://www.tugnuts.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3033 for details.

If you make it to Fisherman's Terminal meeting we can all drool over your new TugBug as well. 😀 If you can't make it you and Sunny could always drive over to the Terminal and visit and chat with all the TugNuts there.

Did Andrew offer you the 2-day boat orientation on the water with Capt. Mac ? It's well worth the time and Capt. Mac knows his way around and has all the expertise you could ask for getting comfortable with your boat's handling and safety issues.

A shorter trip (5 miles -- say 2-3 hours total there and back with a quick 1 hour lunch) would be a round trip from Edmonds to Kingston and back to Edmonds.

Another short trip would be going over to Poulsbo and back. This would require a longer time as the distance is around 16 miles one way via Agate Passage. If we have a 1 hour lunch then it would require about 4-5 hours traveling at a moderate speed.

The best way to get comfortable handling your boat is to take short trips when seas are calm with little wind. Of course, if the sun is out that also is good as well. 😉

If your R-21EC isn't to far along being built (or even if it is) ask Andrew to install the SmartPlug in place of the standard Marinco product. I'm in no way associated with the SmartPlug company and many TugNuts here applaud the additional safety features of the SmartPlug. I don't see that Ranger Tugs would charge anymore for this as any cost difference has to be minimal. See post http://www.tugnuts.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3431 for further details etc.

Yep, I emailed Bob & Nita this morning to get on the list. I think it would be a challenge to make it, especially through the locks, with so little experience, but with some guidance we'll figure it out. 🙂

Yes, on the 21 it's a one day orientation which is plenty for that boat. Well, probably plenty for MOST but for us we will be doing "orientation" for weeks, even months. 🙂 Not sure who's doing the session, but we're arranging the details on that now.

Good choice! 😀

Is the option for a smart plug even available on the 21EC? It's never really using shore power except to charge so I'm not sure I noticed where the plug was.

Magic Tug Elf?

As a side note, we were only able to get a 30' x 13' covered slip in Edmonds, so it's waaaaay to big for our lil TugBug. So if any of you Edmonds folks want to trade up for a bigger slip... 🙂

Paul

When I last looked the D-dock had some available 28' covered slips facing south. Check with Susan Wade again.

Those have names attached to them to hold them. They were available before when I asked but we weren't ready to commit. So we lost out.

Smart Plug is not an option on the Rangers at this time. But talk to Andrew about it if you are interested. He can advise you, as he has on our not-yet-built-R27.
