Hi Guys,

Time to start thinking about winterizing in the NorthEast. This is my first inboard and my first boat with air conditioning.

I had thought I would winterize the AC in a way similar to winterizing the engine, namely putting antifreeze into the water intake until I see pink come out the discharge.

But I'm seeing where some people pump antifreeze through the discharge, sort of the reverse of the normal flow of water.

Is there an advantage to that method? Or do both work equally well?

Thanks,

Just seems easier for me. I just open the seacock and then pump it in until it starts coming out the intake on the bottom.

I use one of these https://www.homedepot.com/p/Camco-H...gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CIu4-83trd0CFQrXWwodPjUOCQ I also pump it into all thru hulls with the exception of the rear bilge since that has a check valve on it. Just a precaution in case any water is laying in the lines. If the hose in loose, just wrap some ductape around the end to increase the diameter and then force it in for a tight seal and then pump away.
