I found an interesting thread from many months back about the number one thing folks would change about their R27 if they could. It was here: http://www.tugnuts.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3096&hilit=cave+seat&start=15
One intriguing idea was a kind of jump seat to be mounting in the opening into the v-berth. On our last boat, we added something like that in our cockpit area. It mounted to a small cabinet, using a full length piano hinge, and could swing up and be supported by a leg from underneath that pivoted out and braced it solidly. The table had a short teak lip that ran around three sides, and a custom cushion provided comfortable seating. It was also a handy added table without the cushion. Got lots of good use out of it.
A bit of a different implementation than others in that thread were proposing. But there seemed to be a lot of interest in the idea among the R27 and R25 owners, and I wondered if anyone has added a jump seat of any kind.
