The storage under the helm seat on our R-29 CB is a great space for holding all kinds of things. Things were getting a little jumbled and disorganized under there so I cobbled together this lift out tray from some old left-over oak flooring we had. I'm definitely no carpenter but things are a little more organized under there now. I keep all the important papers there too so I always know where they are in the event of an inspection or other pressing concern. The dimensions are 17"x 12"x 2-1/2". The width of the opening for the storage area is 19".junk box.jpg

Isn’t it funny how every boat owner thinks they’re the one without enough space? Everyone complains about it.
People with 31-footers say it. People with 29-footers say it. I say it with my 25.
I’m not sure what they say in a 23, maybe just a quiet whimper. I’ve stopped trying to figure it out.

Anyway, I converted the box under my seat into a spice cabinet. Two shelves. Very efficient.
When I tip the seat forward, every spice is right there at my fingertips. No photo, didn’t think it was worth taking one.

I added a bungee cord to keep everything in place.
Without it, one decent wake and the whole boat would become… well… seasoned.

I think it's human nature to "Junk up to your available space". We would love to see your spice cabinet idea.

This is the door that covers the storage area that is located under the helm seat. There is no other way to access that space on our R29 CB.Junk Box Door.jpg

Please post photo, would love storage ideas for a 25!

My first pic post on this new format, so the photo might look a little large, but you can see the setup clearly. The shelves are teak plywood with two short rails to keep everything in place. This picture was taken before I added bungee cords for extra security. I always use teak when I can — these pieces were scavenged straight out of the factory dumpster. Perfect fit, perfect price.
