Karma will be heading to Poulsbo on Wednesday, June 29th. We will be staying until the morning of the 4th of July at which time we will depart for our home port of Eagle Harbor.

Anyone caring to join us is more than welcome. However, be prepared to arrive early. This will be the busiest weekend of the year for Poulsbo. Slips are first come first served. Poulsbo's fireworks show will be at 10:00 pm on July 3rd.

I set out for Poulsbo this morning at 6:30 am. With the winds that we had yesterday, I wanted to make sure that I got in and secured before they had a chance to build today. It appears now though, the early start was not necessary as there is not even a breeze blowing.

The marina still has at least 60 empty slips. However, by tomorrow night, these will all be filled.

I have had a number of people walk down the dock to admire Karma. I offered a tour to one couple as another approached. They were very excited to hear that she was open for tours! After the first couple was finished, I gave the second couple a guided tour. Then the gentleman on the boat astern of Karma asked for a tour....... It seems I started something here........ Oh well, it is fun to talk about a great boat such as Karma.

If you are in the area of Poulsbo this weekend, stop in for a glass of wine!

Hi David,

I will be arriving in the Red Ranger Saturday for our meeting of the Ranger Tugfest organizers. Any suggestions about rafting up or docking anywhere there?

Thnx, and I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

John

John,
Arriving on Saturday will more than likely require you to anchor out. The marina will more than likely be full by tomorrow evening. I will however keep my eyes open as there are two very small slips that an R-21 will fit in. If you can, come in tomorrow.
David

The Laurie Ann will arrive in Poulsbo late Friday afternoon. With that very low tide at noon today, we need to wait a bit to launch here in Everett. We are expecting to anchor out but will look for a marina slip IF there is still one left! The PNW Ranger Rendezvous committee is meeting together on Saturday at 1 pm. If there are any other Tug owners in the area on Saturday, feel free to join us. I think we'll be on Salish Rover, Craig and Kathy Wilson's new R-29.

After Saturday, I'll post more details about all the exciting events coming up! Don't miss out on the fun. . .

Laurie

Salish Rover is on their way to Poulsbo, we hope there are some slips left. We should be there in about an hour in a half. See you there.

Well, it is 1:30 Friday afternoon. The onslaught has begun at Poulsbo. Boats are coming in every 15 to 20 minutes. There are currently 25 open slips. Craig and Kathy on Salish Rover have arrived and managed to snag a slip kiddy corner to Karma. We are awaiting John and Laurie's arrival on the Laurie Ann. Hopefully they will be able to pick up a slip. There is a "special" slip that we are holding for Red Ranger. It has a large rock that is two feet below the surface. With John's draft, he will be perfect for this slip!

The crowd this year is just as interesting as last year. Boats of all sizes, ages, shapes, condition, etc. The weather has turned into a beautiful day with bright sunshine and a light breeze blowing.

It appears that it is going to be a real interesting weekend!

Karma, Salish Rover, and the Laurie Ann are all now safely berthed at the Poulsbo City Marina. The town was abuzz with excitement last evening with the event filled weekend finally here. Boats continued to stream through right up until dark hoping to find an open slip they could slide into. No such luck. By 5:00, the last slip had been filled.

The anchorage currently has what appears to be close to 100 boats hanging on their hooks. By this afternoon, there will be well over a 1,000 boats in the anchorage alone!

Today’s weather is forecast to be the best for the entire three day holiday. If this morning is an indication, it should be great. Currently it is a chilly 47 degrees under a crystal clear sky. The sun is just starting to peak over the hill lighting the boats in the anchorage. It won’t be long and it will be lighting the marina. With the sun comes it’s much desired warmth. Summer in the Puget Sound is incredible. People from outside of the region just do not understand. We continually have to explain why we would keep Karma in such a “Cold”, “Dreary” place……… They just don’t understand…… Nor do we want them too…

John on Red Ranger is supposed to arrive sometime this morning. We will try to find him a space that most others could not get into.

If you are in the area of Poulsbo today, stop in and visit with the crews of Karma, Salish Rover, and the Laurie Ann!

We are almost enroute. We take Jake to the Sunny Hill Cattery for the day and travel by car to Poulsbo. Sorry we will not be on the boat, but we really enjoyed our day on the water yesterday and will be heading North for a few days when we return from Paulsbo. We will just have to have our fun together at different places. So many islands.....so little time.

Marylee and I will leave Whidbey Island about 9:30ish, check our crabpot and then be there by noonish. Although we do have a reserve spot in Liberty Bay Marina, if you can squeeze us in or raft us up next to one of you guys that would be perfect. What VHF channel will you be on?

We got five crab in 90 minutes yesterday, and since I left the pot out overnight I fully expect to have plenty of fresh crab for anyone who wants some. Heck, maybe we can cook it and have it as an appetizer during our meeting.

C'ya soon,

John and Marylee

John and Marylee, it was a pleasure meeting you today. Wish I were close enough to take advantage of your fresh crab. We look forward to seeing you guys again. We stopped by your boat on the way out, but guess you had gone to town.

Thanks Herb! It is tough to pick us out in the crowd........ Well maybe not so much since we are the only yellow boat in Poulsbo this weekend!

Johnnie and Marylee arrived yesterday at 12:30. We were able to squeeze them in at the end of the dock next to a large sport fisher. The weater on Saturday was incredible! Abundant blue sky, 80 degree temperatures, and just a light breeze.

John, Craig, and myself took advantage of the weather doing a little maintenance. Each of us applying a coat of wax to our vessels along with other minor projects. What a location to take on such tasks. And the offers, offers from everyone walking by to allow us the distinct pleasure of waxing their vessels....... hummmmm, not to many takers....

Bob and Nita along with Herb and Willie arrived around 1:00 for the planning Rendezvous Planning Committee meeting. It sounds as if they have quite the event planned for this year!

The late afternoon found Maureen and I out paddling our kayaks through the hundreds of boats hanging on their hooks in Liberty Bay. The Poulsbo Police Boat had the daunting task of keeping the location for the barge open as well as a clear passage through the bay. The barge will leave Port Orchard (13 miles away) at 10 AM this morning. It will arrive at 6 PM. I guess when you are transporting a barge of highly explosive cargo..... you take it a little slow!

This morning we woke to a light marine layer. The air is heavy with moisture, a heavy dew covering Karma. Liberty Bay takes on a whole new look! There is just a hint of blue sky to the south. We shall see what the weather gods have in store for us today! No matter, it is just great to be back on Puget Sound with friends! If you should decide to make a trip to Poulsbo today, you will find the small Ranger Tug flotilla on "F" Dock. Stop by and say hello. Who knows, we may be able to scrounge up a bottle of wine to share......

What a show! The city of Poulsbo puts on one of the best fireworks shows around and along with that, there are the thousands of boats that come in just to see it! Well, maybe some come in for the party...... In either event, if you have not been to the Poulsbo firework show, I would strongly suggest you figure out how to bring your Ranger Tug to Poulsbo next year for this great event.

As John Gray and I stood on Karma's roof watching the fireworks, we also looked out across the sea of masts and anchor lights. We estimated there had to be somewhere between 750 to a 1,000 boats anchored once again in Liberty Bay for the event. Most all of the boats were decorated in some form or fashion.

The day time festivities are almost as good as the fireworks as hundreds of dinghy ply the water looking for a place to tie up on a dock that only has room for maybe 25. Then this year, you had the extreme low tides during the day. If you anchor in Liberty Bay, you must heed the advice of Wagners and not anchor north of "F" dock unless you have local knowledge. Each day, there was at least one sailboat lieing in the mud as the tide receded. Fortunately, none suffered any damage other than the fact they had thousands of people pointing in their direction asking the same question, why would they anchor there?

This morning it will be back to Eagle Harbor for Maureen and I. John and Laurie are headed for Everett and Craig and Kathy will make their way back to Gig.

Karma's next adventure will be out to Blake Island on the 16th of July. Anyone wanting to join us is welcome!
