Good Afternoon,
I was wondering if anyone has attempted to do what I'm planning on doing with my R21ec, which is, specifically, install a "roof rack" for carrying a kayak or bicycle using the existing stainless tubular frame of the full canopy enclosure, which I have installed on my boat. My preliminary idea is to add new tubing by attaching it to the existing vertical frames on the 4 outside corner bars (at 2 spots on each bar for support) running parallel to the bars up just past the rounded peak of the canopy frame. Then join them with a horizontal bar (running bow to stern) on the port and starboard side. Finally, attach some Thule or similar racking across to each new frame while just clearing the canopy on the existing frame and we're done. The frame seems more than capable of allowing the weight. It's the lateral movement (port to starboard) that may (or may not) be present that I have some concern about. So, I am just wondering if anyone has tried something similar on the R21?
