We are looking at buying the RT31CB. Question about the keel: There’s a “skeg” forward of the propeller and rudder. Does that skeg protect it well? Has anyone run aground and damaged the prop?

Yes I have had a
29 for four years and now a 31. Have run into many submerged limbs and logs and it rolls them under the prop and have had no damage to the prop or hull. There is a thick metal bolted to the bottom of the “skeg” . It would protect running aground in sand if you don’t hit a sock but have to also be concerned with sucking up sand in the intake. This feature Makes for a
Very stable boat in rough water also.

We have had a 31CB for 5 years. Sanded the bottom a few times, but never even polished the prop. Prop and rudder are very well protected. Anyone that says they have not run aground in Florida either lies or does not boat often. Thankfully most of ours are sand or mud!

So true bill about anyone who says they haven't run aground and "boats" in Florida...I could plant flags I've "discovered" so much land...
