Returned to 2017R31S. To find all batteries dead no displayed AC voltage when plugged in to shore power. Does it need fresh batteries to work??? 😱

If your shore power source breaker is “on,” ELCI (under the aft cockpit seat) is “on” and your main breaker at the top of your AC panel is on, your AC meter should be showing 120VAC. If so, the pad for the Kisae inverter should be showing that it is charging the house bank (it will read “BUL” meaning Bulk charge if the batteries are low). If the engine battery has also been excessively drained you may need to temporarily switch your “Combine” switch to parallel the house and engine banks until your engine battery gets a charge, because the ACR will lock it out if the voltage is too low.

That’s the problem. Every thing is on and no response from the charger/inverter. Is it fried??

If you are plugged into shore power and your boat is wired correctly, your meter at the top of your AC panel should be showing 120VAC even if your inverter and charger are not working. Shore power is connected directly to the panel and then goes to the Kisae. If your meter shows 120VAC but your charger is not working, check the settings on the Kisae. It is possible the settings inadvertently got changed to turn the unit off. The house batteries do need to be charged for the inverter to work but that is not a consideration if you are actively on shore power.

That’s a nice upgrade. If you thought you might ever convert over to Lithium batteries, you might consider the Xantrex Freedom XC Pro Marine 2000. It has the same capacity as the SW 2000 but is specifically designed for lithium technology as well as lead acid. Just a thought.
