My 6yo inverter charger is on the fritz. Saw an E03 error ("AC output is overloaded or short circuited and unit has shutdown") while plugged into shore power and nothing in use on the boat. Off and then On resolved that. But I have also been seeing R2.0 with unrecoverable shutdowns.

I'm thinking that it's time for a new inverter. Can anyone confirm this or give me some tips on solving the problem with the existing unit?

I'd start my turning off all the breakers so that the only load is the inverter itself and see if E03 still registers while plugged into shore power.

I'm not hopeful, myself and many others have had Kisae's fail. My sparked, smoked, and popped when plugging into shorepower one time and never worked again.

Some have replaced theirs many times, 6 years is about what mine lasted. I switched to Victron.

I've already ordered a new one. The E03 appeared just once and disappeared when he turned the inverter off and then back on. The problem is intermittent. The boat is in a charter program and I simply can't afford to have it not working right. So frustrating!
