Thanks Willie… It unlike you not to take lots of photos… 🙂

I recall meeting Jim & Lisa at Roche Harbour two years back. When I thought I was the only Ranger Tug docked there, to my surprise this red R-27 arrived and docked just two slips away from me. It was Jim & Lisa. When passing their boat several times walking the dogs I noticed water was always pouring out of a port side vent. Being concerned something was wrong I knocked on the Kismet's hull and got Lisa's attention who was reading or writing something at the dinette table. Lisa was unalarmed as she told me it was the A/C unit's cooling water. Hmmm, never knew A/C on the boat did that until then. 😉

Jim had also found the small set screw that secures the transom flag pole to be loose and asked me if I had any allan keys… to his disappointment I did not… but do now have a set and when using them I always remember Jim's request. 😉

Jim & Lisa were the first people to introduce me to the concept of having a Boat Card (eCards as ActiveCaptain calls them).

In your photo of Jim & Lisa I note that the surface of their dinette table is black. What is that ?… black paint or some form of friction pad ?

Hi Barry:

Are we going to be seeing you on the Desolation Sound cruise next week? Hope so. The black vinyl material on our dinette table you asked about is called "marine vinyl" and is sold at Joann Fabric at their stores or their online web sight. We also use this same material, cut to fit, on the overhead hatches. The material sits between the screen and the hatch glass, resting on the screen, and is used to block out the sun when the temperatures are high....it helps keep the boat interior cooler and or the A/C from working as hard as it would otherwise.

P.S.: I now have a set of allen wrenches onboard!

Jim:

I'm sadden to say we shall not be able to make the Desolation Sound Cruise this year. I had made plans and had been preparing the boat for several weeks for the trip… but last week our immediate UK family members decided to visit with us over the same period as the Cruise north and I had no choice but to call the various Marinas and cancel our reservations. I'm a bit bummed out out but we don't get to see our UK family that often and with their travel expense etc we've made the right decision.

We will however, make the Sep 5,6,7,8 Rendezvous 2013 at Cap Sante, and hope many of the Tugnuts we miss over next few weeks will be attending that in early Sep.

I guess we could always drive up to Anacortes which is but a 75 minute drive for us before many leave for Ganges this coming week… I hate to miss out on all those "Happy Hours" you are all talking about.

When will you be leaving Cap Sante for Ganges ? The weather forecast for next week is glorious for Tue through to Fri… Full sun with high temps in the low 70s.

If we don't manage a meet up be sure to enjoy the trip with the Ranger Tug Flotilla/Armada to Gorge Harbour… and be sure to take lots of photos to share on your Blog. I'm told that the Military configure their torpedoes to aim for boats with Blue hulls, so you should be safe cruising through Torpedo alley north of Nanaimo in that red hull of yours.

Barry:

We had planned on leaving this morning but decided one more day was needed for proper preparation. We will however look forward to meeting up with you in Sept. back here at Cap Sante.

Cheers,

Jim
