Does anyone here have info on launching and truck and trailer storage for a few days at Lake Pend Oreille? Anchorages? Mooring balls and shore access? Parking seems to be the wild card.

2 of us heading over. 1wide load and 1 normal width. Both 60’ overall loaded.

I should add that the lake has steep shorelines, so few good anchorages or mooring balls. The channel behind Memaloose Island would be one good choice, also Bottle Bay. I think I saw a couple of mooring balls this summer along the Green Monarchs (mountain range on east side of lake). You could also try stern tying along the Green Monarchs, there are some nice beaches there (made of shale skipping stones) which are generally protected from southerlies. The prevailing winds are from the south and tend to increase in force on on the east side of the lake, usually 10 knots greater than what's forecast at Sandpoint. There is someone who owns a Ranger 23 on this lake so maybe he'll reply also.

We have our Ranger Tug 23 on Lake Pend Oreille. Since our boat is new to us as of last September, I don’t have much more info on anchoring and mooring than the previous post, although I’ve been told that just west of Sandpoint is a nice shallow area to anchor. Beyond Hope is a good option, as a previous reply stated. (But their ramp looks really steep to us!) We have a slip at Hope Marina, and they usually have transient spots available. They can also provide trailer storage. Great people! I think Hope Boat Basin (not far from Hope Marina) is probably the best spot to launch your boat, and then put your trailer wherever you have arranged for while you’re here. We really enjoy the Hope area rather than Sandpoint because this part of the lake is less busy. There is a small public dock at Johnson Creek (by the Monarchs) where you can overnight if there is room - just don’t try on the weekend. Hope to see you on the water here! Here is a link that may also help: http://www.sandpointonline.com/rec/lakeguide/parks.html

I think the Eagle Boat ramp on the southern end is really nice with a great ramp. I've launched my 25 there before. And if you are coming from the other side of the state just launch and go around the corner to Button Hook where it is totally quiet, anchor and then get up and go north in the morning and enjoy the whole lake! It's beautiful all the way. If the wind is blowing you'll get a bumpy ride. That way you have less driving too.

Thank you. Appreciate the input.
